La Esquina

La Esquina

It has only been a few weeks since La Esquina—The Corner—opened its doors, and as its name implies, it’s located at the intersection of Relox and Insurgentes. There you can enjoy watching your favorite sporting event while relaxing with a michelada and a good meal. They have delicious hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken wings, pizza, focaccia, and calzones. The calzones are made with the same dough they use for their pizzas and include Italian-style sauce, mozzarella, sausage and fried pepperoni. The place is run by the Estrada brothers, who are from Puebla. One of them happens to be an artist; he painted the portraits you find on the walls as you come into the restaurant. The other brother, Ari Estrada, is the chef. His love of cooking began when he was a little boy watching his parents who had a restaurant in Puebla.

On the menu you’ll find a great variety of pizzas, starting with a vegetarian pizza, a cheese pizza, a Hawaiian pizza, and one with pepperoni, among others. The pizzas are unique with a special seasoning, and they use fine herbs and olive oil. Among the different types of hamburgers are the original and the BBQ. If you want to try a different hot dog, this is the place. They offer a gigantic one, Monterrey-style, with guacamole, cheese, and ruffled potatoes.

They are located just a few blocks from Jardín Principal and the atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful. There are 2-for-1 promotions on mojitos and margaritas, and beer for only 30 pesos. They’re open every day from 1pm till 10pm. Since they are sport lovers, whenever there is a major event, they offer beer for only 20 pesos. You will find them on Facebook as La esquina and La esquina SMA on Instagram. They deliver throughout the Centro area and will soon be linked with Rappi and Uber Eats.
