The Mexican pharmaceutical company Landsteiner signed an agreement with the Russian Direct Investment Fund for the delivery of 32 million doses, awaiting the approval of the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris).
The vaccine from the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ) was one of the four projects that will receive funding from the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, however, more funds are still required for clinical trials in humans.
Mexico and Argentina will be producing between 150 and 250 million doses of anti COVID-19 vaccines with the firms AstraZeneca and the Carlos Slim Foundation.
