The 16th San Miguel International Writers’ Conference, organized by a local NGO, startet on Oct 11. The conference, which will be held online in a 6-month series, is devoted to readers, writers, and everything related to books. Expatriates Will Have Free Access to Flu Vaccine
The Guanajuato Department of Hygiene has an estimated 35,000 free influenza vaccinations available for San Miguel de Allende residents. Jorge Vidargas, director of Sanitary Jurisdiction II, said that the vaccinations would cost between 2,000 and 3,000 pesos each in a private clinic or pharmacy.

Secretary of Tourism Invites Visitors to Continue Creating Stories in San Miguel
Guanajuato’s Secretary of Tourism, Juan José Álvarez, visited the city on Oct. 6 as part of a formal tourism reactivation event called “Guanajuato, Live Great Stories,” to deliver a metal structure he described as the state’s new tourism brand. This “is a whirlpool of colors, smells, flavors, culture, history, and tradition to the people,” he said, and represents the pride of being from Guanajuato.

Communities and the government collaborate to improve public spaces
One of the largest migrant communities in San Miguel is La Talega. Don Rutilio Hernández, representative of the community, says it was founded in the mid-1700s. There, the Holy Cross, San Isidro Labrador, and San José are venerated.

El Sindicato to Present a Theatrical Opera
The community cultural center, El Sindicato, will offer the theatrical opera "Fireflies do not Fly" as part of its 25th anniversary celebration. The performance will be free of charge and all the health protocols established by the municipal government will be observed.
