The SPA’s annual Pet Food Money Bank fundraiser is our only major fundraiser of the year. We know that times are difficult, but we hope that you make a monetary donation to apply to the annual cost of feeding our resident animals like Mango and Ginger.

 

The SPA, San Miguel de Allende’s only no-kill shelter for dogs and cats, houses a combined average of 100 animals and often has more in foster homes. We provide shelter, care (vaccinations, sterilization, medical care), and food for all of them until they become family companions—no matter how long it takes. Last year, almost 100 cats and dogs were adopted from us. We are proud of our adoption successes, knowing that we are helping to reduce the stray and homeless animal population in San Miguel. 

 

As our cats and dogs become a part of families, we take in more animals. Some are so malnourished when they arrive that we must give them special supplemental food until they become stronger. Many of our animals, dogs in particular, have been at the SPA for a long time (years). As they age, they require special food. Even some of our younger animals are sometimes on a unique diet. For these reasons, we have had to switch some of our residents from our regular, economy-priced food to other options. Because animals do not adjust well to changes in diet and we lack sufficient storage space, we need to raise money to cover the annual cost of feeding our cats and dogs rather than seek donations of food.

 

The goal of this year’s Pet Food Money Bank is 250,000 pesos (about US$13,500), 100 percent of which will be applied to the annual cost of feeding our family pets to be. Please help us with this basic expense by making a monetary deposit to our Pet Food Money Bank. We rely solely on financial donations to survive and receive no government support. We economize, but need help from our supporters.
