Following the increase in COVID-19 cases in San Miguel de Allende, the city government began to analyze and search for the production, storage, and distribution of oxygen. The goal was to find the means of filling oxygen tanks for free for those who need them. Civil Protection was in charge of compiling precise data about oxygen consumption in the city, prior to distributing it.
For information about the San Miguel de Allende Free Oxygen Program, you can call 415 152 0650 or 415 152 8964, from 9am-3:30pm or you can personally visit the Civil Protection offices in the Administrative Building, at Paseo de los Conspiradores 130. Mayor Luis Alberto Villarreal launched the “Free Oxygen” program in San Miguel de Allende stating, “Unfortunately there are people who have abused and profited with the tragedy and the pain, because as oxygen becomes scarce, they have increased its cost.”
