After a search for and analysis of equipment for oxygen production, the San Miguel de Allende municipal administration has decided that the cylinders will be filled for free. “The pandemic will still last a while and I do not think this is a bad investment, especially if with this we can provide this vital supply to those who are suffering from COVID and other respiratory diseases,” said mayor Luis Alberto Villarreal García. He stated that he is in constant contact with the governor of the state, Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo, with the state health department, and with other municipal authorities, seeking alternatives to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The mayor pointed out that “it is time to help the population that most requires it.” Unfortunately, there are people who have abused and profited from the tragedy and pain, because “on the issue of oxygen, in addition to being scarce, they have increased its cost.”
Finally, he emphasized, “Precisely for this reason, to avoid tertiary workers and to really help people and regulate this service, we are looking for a way for the municipality itself to generate and provide oxygen to those who are in urgent need of it.”
