Guanajuato State has the third-highest Infection Rate in the Country

The Health Department reported on Nov. 1 that there are 31,477 active Covid-19 cases in Mexico. This report revealed that Mexico City has the highest number of cases, followed by Nuevo León, and Guanajuato, respectively.

In Guanajuato, there have been a total of 48,997 confirmed Covid-19 cases registered.  Additionally, Guanajuato is one of the 10 states with the highest number of deaths from the virus, behind Mexico City, Estado de Mexico, Veracruz, Puebla, Jalisco, Nuevo León, Baja California, and Sinaloa.

The municipality of San Miguel de Allende reports 105 active cases of Covid-19, with 695 confirmed cases, 590 recovered cases, and 36 deaths.  Dr. Jorge Vidargas Rojas, director of

Sanitary Jurisdiction II, explained that the majority of people infected with Covid-19 in the municipality are workers, housewives, and students. He urges everyone to pay attention and follow the protocols in the related areas. Because of an exponential increase in cases in San Miguel, Mayor Luis Alberto Villareal urged city residents and establishments to follow all the health protocols in order to avoid a new mandatory lockdown.

Currently, Chihuahua is the only state that has gone back to lockdown after registering a spike in cases. The same has happened in countries such as Spain, the United States and France, where lockdowns were once again implemented after detecting spiked infection rates.
