On Saturday, August 29, in a ceremony that began at 10:30am, 17 Biblioteca scholarship holders were given laptops. The recipients of the computers had been chosen by the Biblioteca Scholarship Committee and represented the best students from several schools. These exemplary students came from UTSMA, Universidad De León, Universidad de Guanajuato, Universidad Allende (UNE), Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro (UAQ), and Universidad Patria, UVEG. They came from different study backgrounds, including physical therapy, accounting, tourism administration, nursing, business management, public accounting, dentistry, psychology, pedagogy, engineering, human Capital Management, Mechatronics, and other disciplines.
Biblioteca Director Ali Zerriffi began the program with a few words of inspiration and encouragement to all the students. Following this, Alma Cervantes, head of the scholarship program, addressed the students. She let them know that as long as they continue to get good grades, the Biblioteca will continue to support them, emphasizing that they should be committed to continuing being students of excellence. Computers were given to those students who are starting a career or are in the middle of their university studies. Some of the scholarship recipients who were interviewed afterward stated that they felt comfortable and committed to continue studying and obtaining good grades because the Biblioteca supports them in their dreams to complete their studies and become professionals in their fields. They also said that they really needed computer equipment, since because of the pandemic, everything has become digital, and most of their computers were in poor condition. Technology professor Isaac Sanchez was called in to help select the laptops, and he worked closely with Susan Oneal (member of the scholarship committee) to buy laptops with features needed by university students.
