The platform communicated the new price of its monthly payments that will come into effect from August 17 of this year, for users who had an active subscription the increase will be reflected until the month of November, they will have two more months with the previous rate.

The new prices for Spotify Premium in Mexico are:

  • University Plan: 57 pesos per month
  • Individual plan: 115 pesos per month
  • Duo Plan: 149 pesos per month
  • Family Plan: 179 pesos per month

With this increase, Spotify joins the list of companies that increased their costs due to the digital tax.

The digital tax meant an increase in the prices of electronic services of 16%, with this it is sought that digital companies will report VAT for each transaction they carry out.

Some companies lowered the cost of their services or products by absorbing the impact generated by the digital tax, Spotify communicated in this regard that it would not increase the rates with the arrival of this tax, however, the increase came.
