The plans to open Cien 24 started about a year ago. They were all set to open during Holy Week this year, and then the pandemic happened. Instead of having a complete and unrestricted opening as they had originally planned, they decided instead to institute all the measures required by the health contingency.

 

Cien 24 opens at 8:30 a.m. from Monday through Saturday and remains open until 1 p.m. The restaurant offers a great variety of breakfast dishes that are delicious and unique to the area. For example, their scrambled eggs are prepared with panela cheese, an avocado tostada, and sautéed spinach. You can also ask for them with a side of sausage or bacon.

 

The omelets can be ordered with mushrooms, turkey ham, Gouda cheese, pomodoro sauce, and a side of green salad. A specialty of the house is “huevos en cazuela” (baked eggs in a casserole), and it includes pumpkin, pimento, cherry tomatoes, goat cheese, and a side of green salad. Another delicacy is avocado tostadas, toast with avocado, hard-boiled quail eggs, sesame seeds, cilantro, and chile serrano rings. Of course, no breakfast restaurant in San Miguel de Allende could do without serving chilaquiles, and you will find them here as well, with chicken and with eggs.

 

If you feel like having something sweet, you can order their hot cakes with marmalade, bananas, and butter. Or you can have yoghurt with fresh seasonal fruit, honey, and granola.

 

All the beverages are nonalcoholic and include lemonade, orange juice, or coffee. The products are all local. The atmosphere is warm and the service is excellent. You also have the option of ordering to take out or having food delivered to your home.
