Following La Alborada, the Entrance of Souls and Súchiles, and the Tribute to Fray Juan de San Miguel (the big party this year was virtual) everything concludes with the procession of Señor San Miguel.
The procession that normally includes dancers will be much more subdued this year. Nor will it be transmitted via networks at the request of the traditionalists. But if you happen upon it, remember that the tradition was rescued more than 30 years ago, and it will take place on Sunday, October 9.
The sculpture of San Miguel Arcángel is lowered from the main altar of the parish and is placed on a platform adorned with hundreds of colorful flowers. At the close of the festivities it’s carried on litters in a procession to each of the churches of the Historical Center. At each of the churches there is a break and thanks are given that the festival has developed without incident.
Alejandro Luna, previous told Atencion that the procession was already being carried out in the 18th century. Then for unknown reasons it was forgotten, and it was not until 1985 that the tradition was rescued by his father, Mr. Félix Luna (RIP).
