Rodrigo Reynoso’s Magical World of Pop and Urban Art

Rodrigo Reynoso’s Magical World of Pop and Urban Art

By Margaret Failoni

Thanks to such gifted artists as Rodrigo Reynoso, Pop Art is alive and well and happily thriving in the world’s great metropolises. To see this artists paintings is to feel the throbbing excitement of urban life, such as for example Mexico City where the artist was born in 1975. His joyous use of color and journalism imagery make us be present at life’s more interesting turning points. Something great is about to happen, we don’t know what or where, but we’re anxious to participate when looking at his paintings.

Having received a degree in Graphic Art at the Universidad del Nuevo Mundo, in the State of Mexico. Most of this artists professional career has been focused on graphic design and illustration, a profession from which he has received numerous awards and honorable mentions. On the other hand, his formation in the plastic arts, (a sculptor and painter) have been self taught, developing in the last ten years. And we are thankful for that. A selected group of paintings and some of his charming, child like, humorous off the wall sculptures will be presented in the Interseccion Gallery in San Miguel de Allende. During these very trying times we are living in, Rodrigo Reynoso’s work brings joy and optimism.

Artist’s Statement: Art, Architecture and modern urban landscapes are some of the ways humanity leaves mortal echos through time. My pieces are a transformation that represents the reality that surrounds me; every piece come from a moment of people living their everyday life; It is my way of connecting with the world through the language I’m most passionate about.
