A Pink Collar for Soleil

A Pink Collar for Soleil

By Megan Gabel

My heart goes out to Soleil. She is a gentle, sweet, beautiful girl. Now that she is safe at the SPA, she wags her tail, softly puts her paw in your hand, and then switches paws so each can be massaged. Hard to believe that she was left in a bag on a deserted road after her puppies were stolen from her. Her muffled cries alerted her rescuer that she needed help. Despite this dreadful and frightening experience, Soleil is a lovely dog. She is a ray of sunshine in our lives; hence, her name. We gave her a pretty pink collar as a symbol of beautiful times to come. Not unsurprisingly, Soleil is a little withdrawn when she meets someone new. But when Soleil knows and trusts you (which happens very quickly), she easily moves in closer to be petted. She likes going for a walk and does very well on leash. She is quietly observant as people, cars, and other dogs pass by. Only two years old, she is playful with other dogs and likes toys.

Soleil’s new best friend is Charlie. Charlie is almost 10 months old: a slim, medium-sized German Shepherd mix, likely surrendered by his owner who pretended otherwise. Charlie is very sweet but obviously misses being in a home with a family. He enjoys going out for a walk and frequently stops to give his walker a hug. He welcomes attention and a reassuring pat.

Our wish for Soleil, Charlie, and all our dogs and cats, is that the future brings them much happiness, love, and security. The SPA’s adoption fee for cats and dogs is 600 pesos and includes all current vaccinations, deworming, and sterilization (and more). Adoption hours at the SPA, Los Pinos #7, are Monday-Saturday between 11 and 2. We adhere to our COVID-19 protocol, which means that only one person may enter the SPA for an adoption interview. That person must wear a mask and stay at least six feet away from SPA personnel.

Our clinic is offering a special promotion this month. During July, our normal price of 700-1,000 pesos for teeth cleaning (cats and dogs) has been reduced by 20%! The clinic is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 9am to 3pm. Tuesdays and Saturdays are discount days with lower prices and hours extended to 4pm. Call 415 152 6124 for an appointment.

The SPA provides food, care, and shelter for all our animals. Our Pet Food Money Bank fundraiser is continuing. We still have not reached our goal of 250,000 pesos, all of which will apply to the annual cost of feeding our animals. Please help our cats and dogs by donating!
