Second COVID Dose Completed

Second COVID Dose Completed

More than 14 thousand people over 60 got their second dose of the Covid vaccine. Mexicans and residents waited patiently until their turn came.

The notice was published by the State Secretariat of Public Health a day in advance; on April 20 and 21 all those who received a first shot would get their second Pfizer inoculation at the same place where they got their first a month ago.

After the notice, the local administration called all the people to not spend the night in line, however there were those intrepid that arrived to save their spot at 1am.

This time, the federation had 300 extra doses for first shots, but they did not announce it since they did not want the lines to collapse. “They are there because there will be people asking for a first dose, and we will give it to them, but we do not want the lines to collapse. People should wait until the next campaign” told Atención Gerardo Sierra, Regional Coordinator of the Correcaminos (Roadrunner) Brigade.

Solidarity was also present. The Covid 19 group prepared box lunches for all those volunteers, and members of the Red Cross distributed them. Also, dozens of workers from the city administration worked on the conditioning of the places for vaccination, as well as distributing energetic bars, and water for the “patients”.

It has been estimated by the federation that the vaccination for the next age group (50-59) will begin in May in Guanajuato. In the meantime, from May 5-11 teachers from public and private schools will get their single shot from Cansino. On May 11, the state will begin a pilot to reopen schools as soon as possible.
