“Respiremos por la Vida” (Let’s Breathe for Life) is the most recent health program in San Miguel de Allende and its purpose is to provide oxygen to people who truly need it. So far, 150 families have requested this support. This means that more than 600,000 liters of oxygen are provided per day. On Jan. 27, the first stage began with a target of recharging up to 25 oxygen tanks daily.
In order to request to have your oxygen tank filled, you must go to the Civil Protection offices Sun.-Fri., 9-11am and Sat. 8:30-10:30am Civil Protection will transport the tanks and refill them. They will be delivered to the beneficiaries daily 5-6pm.
These are the requirements as delineated by Civil Protection for filling the tanks:
- A Type E cylinder (680 liters) with a valid Hydrostatic Test (PH).
- A prescription.
- A completed application and a signature to the effect that you understand and will ensure the proper use of oxygen. Both forms will be provided at the Civil Protection offices in the administrative building.
- A proper, official identification.
- Proof of address.
