Salome Clark is a 17-year-old girl from Chicago with a big heart and she is now a resident of San Miguel continuing her focus on helping others. She finds garbage collectors work most admirable, especially during the COVID contingency, during which they have not stopped collecting garbage. They have continued with their work even with the risk of exposing themselves and their families. Watching the work of the garbage collectors, Salome decided to start a collection for the aguinaldo or Christmas bonus of workers in the San Antonio neighborhood and for those of the warehouses in the Guadalupe neighborhood.
Salome studies at Victoria Robbins. She has learned that people have not abandoned their work of collecting and separating garbage. At the end of October she began fundraising through GoFundMe and began receiving donations during the first half of November. Buonforno Bakery is one business that has become involved in a significant way by disseminating information and putting a piggy bank in its establishment. Café Verintort contributed by donating cookies so that the aguinaldo also included a symbolic gift. Initially, Salome’s goal was to collect a bonus for nine workers; instead they were able to help 10. Thanks to all the people who were able to support the goal.
