Mujeres en Cambio will be hosting its 6th annual Tango Festival Clothing Sale, March 13–15 from 10-6pm at CASA, Santa Julia 15 in colonia Santa Julia. The sale is part of Mujeres’ continuing 25th Anniversary celebrations and we invite you to shop till you drop for amazing bargains while supporting our wonderful mission of providing scholarships to young women in rural San Miguel de Allende.
This year, in addition to our outstanding selection of gently used clothes, we have received a range of adorable new suede purses and clutches and, best of all, an incredibly generous donation of new clothes from Sofia’s boutique on Umaran.
Please don’t let the title “Tango Festival Clothing” throw you – we have a wide range of clothes from traditional Tango wear to casual outfits. Are you still looking for that perfect little black dress? A flirty summer skirt? A pair of killer shoes? Comfortable pants to lounge in? A stylish top from Sofia’s, one of San Miguel’s top boutiques? Then look no further, the Tango Sale has everything that you need.
The Tango Festival, the artistic creation of Nancy Roberts, is in its 9th year in San Miguel bringing some of the best known tango instructors in Latin America and the States together with students of the dance from around the world. Classes will be held all four days beginning at 9:00am and are open to all tango enthusiasts. Please visit sanmigueltangofestival.com for more information.
It was six years ago that two of Mujeres en Cambio’s biggest fans, Anne Challamel and Joan Strouse, collaborated with Nancy and the Tango Festival Clothing Sale to benefit Mujeres en Cambio was born. During the year Nancy’s tangueras in the US and Canada collect the clothes that are brought to SMA for Mujeres to sell during the festival. This endeavor has been a steady source of revenue for our scholarships since its inception. Just think how good you will feel shopping to help others and how good you will look when you are done.
The Mujeres en Cambio anniversary celebrations will continue March 23 from 2–5pm with a traditional luncheon at the beautiful ranch of one of their founders 20 minutes from SMA. Enjoy a tranquil afternoon in the country, feast on mole and other delights, meet some of our students, and hear tales of our storied town from a member of one of SMA’s notable families. Please save the date.
