Letters

Editor,

Both of the sessions of danzon and other Latin dance rhythms in the Jardín Principal on Sunday, July 13 were a smash success with tremendous public participation. The marimba band, “Tono 13,” was absolutely super!

There are so many people to thank that we can’t do it all in this letter. However, we must express our deep gratitude to Lic. Veronica Agundis, Director of Education and Culture of this city, for having confidence in this project and to Gaby Yunes of that same agency for her sensitivity and patience. Of course, many thanks to Mayor Jesus Correa and the municipal government. For the great publicity, we take our hats off with appreciation to Atención and XESQ Radio San Miguel. There’s a fraternal abrazo to the members of the Club de Danzon “Nueva Epoca de Oro,” who came from Celaya to show solidarity with us and to perform for us. Last but not least, we must express a our love for the multitude of people, Mexicans and foreigners, residents and tourists, who filled the Jardín twice in the same day to watch, listen, and most importantly, dance their sweet tails off! How can you beat that?

Since we do this every two weeks, we’ll see you again, or for the first time, on Sunday, July 27 from 1 to 3pm and from 7 to 9 pm. Que viva la musica!

Editor,

On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers—and most importantly, the patients and families we serve, Hospice San Miguel would like to thank the Rotary Club of Walla Walla Washington and the San Miguel Mid-Day Rotary Club for a recent US$4,000 direct grant. Past President of the San Miguel Mid-Day Rotary, Gordon Logan was born and raised in Walla Walla. Since both cities have been listed in Money Magazine’s “Top Ten Best Places to Retire,” the members of the Walla Walla Rotary were interested in supporting a project in San Miguel. To our delight, they decided on Hospice. We are very grateful for this grant that will be used to purchase durable medical equipment and supplies for the use of our patients free of charge. We are truly grateful to have the support of the wonderful people in the San Miguel Mid-Day Rotary, as well as the support of other Rotary Clubs in the United States that consider our efforts worthwhile. Thank you all!
