Natalia started ballet when she was five years old in Mar del Plata, her native city. This formed the foundation of her career, providing her the technique, fluency and experience on stage that she applies in her profession.

She also studied jazz, modern dance, rock ‘n’ roll, salsa and flamenco for many years.

She began dancing tango in Mar del Plata in 1999 and met Hernán in a milonga next year. They traveled often to Buenos Aires to improve their art through lessons from Nito & Elba, Pablo & Dana, Alejandra Martiñan, Roberto Herrera and other influential teachers.

Hernán entered the world of tango through the music. He played multiple venues in a Mar del Plata duo with a bandoneón, as well as folklore and flamenco in other groups.

Performance was the foundation of his dance, providing him the interpretation and musical essentials for a tango dancer. He also gives lessons and music workshops. His dance training included ballet, modern dance and barre à terre. He began dancing tango in Mar del Plata in 1998.

In 2003, Natalia and Hernán settled in Buenos Aires, dancing at Teatro Metropolitan, Esquina Homero Manzi, El Viejo Almacén, Bocatango and Teatro Colón de Mar del Plata. They performed with famous bands and singers (Virginia Luque, Argentino Ledesma, Orquesta de Juan D´arienzo and Sexteto Tango) and gave lessons to students from around the world.

On August 14, Natalia & Hernán present a magnificent porteño show with live music played by excellent musicians, dancing the different styles of tango through its history.

Alonso Villareal
Wed–Thu, Aug 27–28, 8pm
Teatro Ángela Peralta
Mesones 82

Born in General Zuazua, Nuevo Leon, Alonso Villareal has shown his natural inclination for dance since childhood. While in high school he joined the Balet Folclórico de la Universidad Regiomontana, under the direction of teacher Beatriz Decanini. There he met his first flamenco teacher, Sabás Santos.

In December of 1985, he went to Mexico City to study at the Amalia Hernández school of dance and joined the resident company. In 1986, he met teacher Manolo Vargas and discovered his great true passion: Spanish Dance.

His dream of learning from the roots of flamenco came true when he went to Spain and studied in Madrid and Seville for six years under many of the greatest teachers of flamenco.

He has performed his art in Mexico, the United States, Spain, Colombia and Uruguay. He has also been distinguished with several awards. His creativity and constant search have made of him an excellent choreographer. Some of his creations have included: La vida breve, Semblanza, Letargo de amor, El angel and Aires huastecos, all of them distinctly innovative and original.

In his own words: “When I am on stage, I forget about technique and let the passion flow to give my audience the very best. I am the result of a conjunction of elements, and after more than 25 years as a dancer, I still keep always trying to outdo myself.”

Master Villarreal presents his most recent creations, Vernáculo y Bohemio, in a flamenco show including the poetic voice of Patricia Laborde.
